How to Find the Most Searched Keywords
You have your website up, running and indexed into Google, but you want to know how to find the most searched keywords for your content. So where can you find these keywords? Assuming that you have the very important free Google program, Google Webmaster Tools (GWT) installed on your website, this would be where you need to go to find your answers.
Why do Keywords matter?
If you want good SEO (Search Engine Optimization), you need to be using the keywords that people are using to search the internet for what you have to offer. The reason why this is important, is that it will give you more exposure by placing your content closer to, if not on Page 1 of the Google search results. The closer to Page 1 your content is, the more traffic you can get, which can potentially become your customers.
As is seen in the graph image above by Chitika, 91.5% of the search traffic will not go past Page 1 in search results before clicking on a link. Then Page 2 is only 4.8% and Page 3 is even lower at 1.1% of search traffic. Pages 4 to 10 are less than 1%. This is why it is important to construct your content with good quality keywords, so that you can get as close to Page 1 as possible.
How to find the best Keywords for SEO
By using Google Webmaster Tools you can see the top most searched keywords people are using to find and access your content. Now you may be saying to yourself, I know the keywords I was targeting in my content, so why do I need to search for others? The simple answer is that your targeted keywords are not always the most popular at any given time. Search trend will always change as time goes by.
It is important to always monitor the popular keywords that people are using to find your content, and then use those keywords to draw in more traffic. I am going to give you an example of what I did to get more traffic to a recent blog post on my website. The topic of my blog post was on a program called DS Domination Monopoly and why it was not worth the $500 cost.
Best Keywords for SEO
I had gone into my GWT in search of how my scam review on DS Domination was doing. Once I was into the initial “Current Status” screen, I clicked on the tab that says “Search Queries” as seen in the image above. This Current Status screen displays how many pages you have that are indexed into Google, how many warnings or Crawl Errors if there are any, and the amount of Impressions and Clicks of Search Queries that your website has received.
On the Search Queries page there are two tabs, Top queries and Top pages. As you can see in the image below, my website readers top query or keyword is “ds domination,” which naturally was one of my targeted keywords. But the 2nd most searched keyword or query is “ds domination monopoly.” This was not a keyword I was targeting and it only appears once in my content.
After seeing that I said to myself, that is the keyword I am going to target in my next blog report about DS Domination. It is always good practice to write a blog and have it represent an existing page of content on your website, so that you can link to it and enhance your SEO. So I did some further research into this monopoly program and created the blog post.
Being that my DS Domination scam review is my top most popular page and that my new blog title contained both of the top two most searched queries, my blog post became my 4th most popular page in a matter of 2 weeks. Yes DS Domination is a hot topic and many want to know if it really is worth joining, but having the blog shoot up to Google Page 1 within 2 weeks blew my mind!

Brilliant post!! Amazing man! I recommend everyone to read this right away! The use of stats and bar graphs just adds weight to your points! Amazing article once again!
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Srijan. The article makes clear that by knowing what keywords are being used by search engine users, gives you a great advantage when it comes to using them in your content. This is what I am doing now.
Good way to find new keywords to use that you might not have found otherwise. The little bit about the impressions vs. click in the video you included was also very helpful for me.
Glad it was helpful to you Martina. It is a great way to find keywords for your content because it displays the actual keywords that are being used to find your content and not just the keywords you have researched yourself.
This is interesting. I never thought about going back to edit content that is on my blog to match what keywords are being searched for. Still learning! Good article. Thank you!
You are welcome Paul. Yes at first I never thought about doing that either but then I had learned that you should always go back to your published content and update it so that it becomes more attractive to those searching for the information you can offer. If you don’t then it is wasted content. As said in the video above, if the CTR (Click Through Rate) is low then you should probably go back and update your content.
